Integrated Rural Development & Conservation Initiative in Similipal

Mayurbhanj Biological Research (MBR) is implementing a comprehensive Rural Bio-Energy and Livelihood Program in the Similipal Biosphere Reserve, the 9th Biosphere Reserve of India. This initiative is led by Samir Kumar Sahu, Founder and Executive Director of MBR.

Under this initiative, MBR promotes clean energy through biogas plants in forest fringe villages such as Chandan Chaturi (Dukura Forest Range). Beneficiaries like Mr. Bijaya Singh and his family are now using eco-friendly biogas systems, reducing dependence on fuel wood from the Similipal Tiger Reserve
